Add1Challenge 4: Introduction

I'm going to be starting Add1Challenge 4 on Monday 21st July.

I'm really excited about finishing the challenge in Tokyo because in a city with 35 million native Japanese speakers I'm going to relish the opportunity of starting my new life by making as many friends in Tokyo as I can!

7月21日は言語チャレンジが始める。3500万人は東京にすんでいます。だから、新し友達を見つかりますのでいつ東京にすんでいます。もちろん、頑張っれます。

  1. Hi Kevin, I just want to let you know that i will read Your blog regularly, and of course cheering for success in Your new mission! At the end of this challenge it will be a nice story of a man who completely changed his life in one year. Starting with a dream at the beginning, then changing it into achievable goal, working towards it and finally turned that dream into reality!

  2. Hi Mariusz, thank you for your message. Yeah, I love the fact that my story is becoming quite like the central story arc in a J-dorama. 1998 I visited Japan and left vowing that I would return one day - but made a promise to myself that if I wanted to live in Japan then I should make an effort to speak Japanese. Fifteen years later I hadn't made any effort to learn Japanese at all and had almost forgotton the promise I made to myself. Then I learned katakana so that I could understand the interface of some vocaloid software I was researching ... and that set me on a journey in which I ended up on the Add1Challenge. I loved getting involved with folks like yourself and finding that I wasn't alone when it came to figuring out how I could learn a language. It's been such an amazing journey already, but I feel like I'm approaching a really exciting part in this story. I look forward to sharing the ups and downs, the twists and turns of this adventure with you.
